About this guide
This guide will walk you through the configuration of Microsoft Windows Live Mail 2009.
It assumes that you have already installed the program, but have done nothing more.

1) Create a new account

Click on the "Add an e-mail account" link on the left menubar.

2) Basic account information

Enter your email address, password and display name.
Check the box at the bottom called "Manually configure server settings for e-mail account".

Click the "Next" button.

STOP: IMAP or POP3?

At this point you need to decide whether you will use IMAP or POP3 to check your email.

IMAP stores all of your email on the server (also making it available via webmail), and allows you to categorise your messages into folders.
POP3 is generally used where you only have one computer as it is designed to download (and delete) your mail from the server.

If unsure, use IMAP as it offers enhanced functionality and an easy migration path to POP3 if required later.

3a) Server settings for IMAP

Enter the details as shown in the screenshot below, ensuring you choose "IMAP" as the account type.
The server name for both incoming and outgoing email MUST be "mail.keystroke-hosting.co.uk".
You MUST check both boxes entitled "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)".
Your username is your full email address.
You MUST check the box entitled "My outgoing server requires authentication".

When done, click the "Next" button.

3b) Server settings for POP3

Enter the details as shown in the screenshot below., ensuring you choose "POP3" as the account type.
The server name for both incoming and outgoing email MUST be "mail.keystroke-hosting.co.uk".
You MUST check both boxes entitled "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)".
Your username is your full email address.
You MUST check the box entitled "My outgoing server requires authentication".

When done, click the "Next" button.

4) Setup complete

OK the dialog box and your account is now configured for use.
