In September 2008, Keystroke Solutions was part of a team that sucessfully broadcast two days of live events and numerous on-demand items from WYSTC 2008 in New York, USA.
Our role within the team was to plan, provide, oversee and manage the streaming infrastructure that powered the event. This consisted of specialised encoder boxes which converted live video feeds to the Windows Media Video format on-the-fly and a Windows Media Services system to handle the distribution. We also authored a bespoke statistics package which provided realtime graphs and figures to the production team on-site.
In addition to running the systems, we were tasked with monitoring the event remotely to ensure that everything was going to plan and working as intended for viewers near and far.
At its peak, our solution was streaming two simultaneous events around the globe, whilst archiving the content for later viewing and offering on-demand videos of events that had already taken place. This was made possible by the hard work of all involved and the systems which we had been designing and working on for several months in advance.
